Mallory Simmons, a 22 year old college student from Lafayette, was 21 months old when she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive disease that affects the respiratory and digestive systems of the body. Mallory’s complications have been mostly respiratory, necessitating daily chest therapy and airway clearing procedures. Mallory suffered additional complications when she was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 12.

In September 2008 Mallory experienced a collapsed lung. In May 2010 her lung col-lapsed again and she was airlifted to Tulane Medical Center for treatment. At this point, Mallory’s lungs began to rapidly deteriorate and she was placed on the organ donor list at Ochsner Hospital. On January 28, 2011 Mallory underwent a successful double lung transplant.

To help Mallory and her family defray the escalating cost of her healthcare, we are hosting a benefit fundraiser on her behalf.
