Mission Statement
Friends in Need is a small, non-profit organization formed in July 1997 to provide assistance to families and individuals in Southeastern Louisiana in times of medical crisis.
How We Accomplish Our Mission
Friends in Need volunteers represent an effort of community outreach resulting in heartfelt giving. We as a community continue to come together to help our neighbors in their time of need. Each person gives what they are able based on their available resources. To this end, we provide manpower and direction as well as financial assistance in times of medical crisis.
All of our efforts are provided on a volunteer basis. The organization does not have any employees, and therefore no payroll. We do not charge fees to help raise funds, or to hold fundraisers. Since our inception, we have helped to raise over $1,640,000 to assist families in times of medical crisis. Our administrative costs amount to less than 2% of total revenues per year ($1,000 per year).
Friends in Need is classified as a public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to our organization are fully tax deductible by the donor to the extent permitted by law.
